Vacancy Global Head of Food Safety & Quality – Oss


08 DEC ’21: For LIVEKINDLY COLLECTIVE, we are actively seeking a Global Head of Food Safety & Quality to join their team in Oss, The Netherlands.

This position is a critical leadership position within the LIVEKINDLY COLLECTIVE R&D team, reporting directly to the Chief Scientific Officer. The global Head of Food Safety & Quality Assurance provides leadership and guidance for all food safety, quality assurance, and related regulatory compliance aspects in the production and shipping of The LIVEKINDLY COLLECTIVE products. Ensures company procedures are followed and are continually being met in daily operations in our plants. This role has full responsibility for setting global standards, processes and protocols. The position will ensure the production of the highest quality products in the safest and most efficient manner. This role works in conjunction with Operations, R&D, Procurement, Logistics and other teams in the company to provide leadership and guidance on Quality and Food Safety requirements.

Moreover, you will be responsible for:

  • The oversight of all Food Safety & QA programs to ensure regulatory compliance and continuous improvement as well as consistent enforcement of procedures
  • Implementing and executing (systematic) activities regarding food safety quality assurance and improvement for all factories
  • Understanding, defining and communicating through the development of standards and models the best practices for the management of food safety, sanitation and consistency in quality
  • Promoting a corporate culture in which continuous improvement is central
  • Anticipating growth ambitions and ensuring that customer service remains top-notch. Rolls out a FS & QA strategy aimed at constant growth and continuous quality awareness
  • Lead audit teams during regulatory and/or third-party audits of facilities and drive consistent compliance
  • Assist with standardisation of sanitary operating procedures by observing and identifying areas in need of improvement and implementing programs to ensure production processes are consistent with established standards
  • Assist in monitoring the plant environmental conditions and monitor trends for the elimination of problematic areas
  • Develop, implement and train all quality programs, HACCP programs and SSOPs and maintain compliance, i.e. with FDA/FSMA.
  • Manage and improve our Traceability and Recall Program, including working knowledge of ERP systems to track and trace items throughout the supply chain
  • Make connections between the shop floor, top management and our (new) customers
  • Keep close contact with the plant leadership and quality engineers of all branches at home and abroad
  • Oversees root cause analysis in the investigation of customer complaints
  • Lead process improvement/focus team meetings to drive improvement plans related to FSQA issues
  • Assist in cross-training of Food Safety Plans and all supporting procedures in new and current plant locations
  • Oversees implementation and full execution of the Food Safety Plan for multiple facilities, including refrigerated distribution facilities


The perfect candidate for this role should meet the following criteria:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Microbiology or related technical field required
  • Passionate about plant-based food
  • Management level experience in quality assurance and/or auditing experience
  • Working knowledge of plant layout and manufacturing operations to effectively troubleshoot and correct production-related problems and recognise constraints and limitations affecting new product design and implementation
  • Solid working knowledge of food safety and quality assurance, sanitation, food manufacturing, packaging, and distribution
  • A highly interactive leader who inspires and enables others to reach their full potential. Someone who communicates effectively with multi-functional team members at all levels of the organisation
  • The ability to work with multiple stakeholders, embracing diversity and inclusion in how we work with each other
  • Extensive experience with Statistic Process Control
  • Professional and technical knowledge of production processes site performance and GMP levels
  • Proficient with Implementation of various food safety standards as known throughout the industry
  • Previous food safety management systems training and implementation experience
  • Strong aptitude for dealing with ambiguity, managing multiple projects, and balancing priorities
  • Strong work ethic and decision-making capabilities
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and delegation skills
  • Ability to motivate and lead people, as well as mentoring and develop others
  • Strong working knowledge of operational procedures
  • Ability to travel
